2016 Global Mural Conference

September 21-23, 2016
Woodcliff Hotel, Fairport, NY

Preserving heritage through community art is the theme of this year's conference, which explores the role of mural arts in heritage preservation and community revitalization. Field trips will showcase many of the heritage murals created along the Erie Canal. The event also features a Mural Expo of mural artists painting simultaneously under one tent.


NYS Canal Conference

October 6 - 7, 2016
Holiday Inn, Auburn, NY

The Bi-annual New York State Canal Conference hosted by the Canal Society of New York State brings together national, state and local government officials, community leaders, developers, project coordinators, canal enthusiasts and providers of goods and services needed by those who use and enjoy the canal. This year’s conference will focus on Cayuga County and the newly constructed visitor and interpretive center at Erie Canal Heritage Park at Port Byron.

Enhancing Downtown with Food and Lodging

The forum explored the role of food and lodging in enhancing downtowns for residents and visitors. Conference program included strategies for product development and marketing and conversations with guest speakers Jonathan Tourtellot, Geotourism Editor of National Geographic Traveler, Main Street expert Kennedy Smith of The CLUE Group, LLC, and panelists from the Canalway Corridor.
