Canal Clean Sweep Weekend, April 19-21
Volunteers are always welcome to help with canal-wide cleanup and beautification projects. More than 100 projects are on tap throughout the canal corridor.

Canal Opens for the Season- May 1

It's time once again to put your boat in the water, take a bike ride on the Erie Canalway Trail, or take a cruise with one of the many canal tour operators.

2013 Tour of the Lois McClure
June through August
Step on board canal schooner Lois McClure! Free tours offered at multiple stops. She’ll enter the Champlain Canal in early June, make her way across the Erie Canal to Buffalo for the July 4th weekend, and then travel to Oswego in August.

American Wind Symphony Tour
June 10 – July 20
Enjoy an evening of music along the canal as the Point Counterpoint II, the symphony’s unique floating arts center and stage, tours the Erie Canal. Multiple performance stops.

Journey Along the Erie Canal, June 23 - July 8
Come out and cheer as Our Ability leads a cross state bike ride from Buffalo to Albany along the Erie Canalway Trail to raise awareness for people with disabilities.

Cycling the Erie Canal, July 7-14
Join 500 riders of all ages and from all over the country for this 8-day, 400-mile bike tour across New York State, organized by Parks and Trails New York.

Canal Splash, August 9-11
Guided walks, bikes and cruises, museum and gallery exhibits, canoe and kayak paddles, canalside festivals, performances and more are offered throughout the Corridor to celebrate the history, culture, and recreational appeal of the NYS Canal System.

Spare Seat Kayak Tour, Erie Canal, May 1-13, 2012
British adventurers Richard Harpham and Glenn Charles kayaked an epic 500 miles from Buffalo’s historic Erie Canal Harbor to the Statue of Liberty. Members of the public and media joined them in their double-seated kayaks to promote travel to New York’s waterways.
