  Little Falls
Lock 17 Once the highest single lift lock in the world at 40.5 feet.
 
Waterford
Waterford Flight This series of of five lift locks raises boats 184 feet in elevation from the Hudson River at Lock 2 to the Mohawk River west of Lock 6, bypassing the dramatic 75-foot Cohoes Falls. Also at Lock 2 are the locks of the Waterford side-cut of the original Champlain Canal and the remains of the Champlain Canal to the North and South.
 
Smaller remnants of the original canal are found in cities and towns throughout the region and are best accessed through local historical societies and visitor centers.
