Inside the Hold
day peckinpaugh, 2009
No longer carrying cargo, exhibits inside the enormous hold of the Day Peckinpaugh tell the story of 400 years of travel and transportation on New York's waterways. Construction of the Erie Canal in 1825 fulfilled the promise of Henry Hudson and Samual de Champlain's explorations by creating a waterway west and opening the North American continent. |
