Congratulations to our 12 photo contest winners and 12 honorable mention recipients, whose winning entries will appear in our 2009 calendar. View their winning photos at www.eriecanalway.org/photocontest.asp.

This year's contest drew 433 entries from 124 amateur photographers, an increase of 145 images over 2007. A panel of judges selected winning photographs based on creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying the beauty or character of the Erie Canalway in four contest categories: Historic Architecture and Engineering Marvels, Canal Culture, For the Fun of It, and The Nature of the Canal.

The free 2009 Erie Canalway calendars will be distributed later this fall throughout upstate New York. Locations where the calendars will be made available to the public will be posted on our website.
